Luxury is Right at Your Fingertips

The world's most iconic red-soled shoe is right at your fingertips (well, sort of).

Above: The nail polish bottle with the shoe it was inspired by
Luxury shoe brand, Christian Louboutin, has come out with a nail polish that is the exact same shade of red as the shoes' iconic red sole. This classic shade of red could be yours for the price of $50 (or $58 CAD) per bottle! Most people may think that sounds pretty steep for a bottle of nail polish, but it's only a fraction of the cost of a pair of Louboutins.

The nail polish bottle stands eight inches tall and has a long, pointed brush handle, which sticks up from above. Actually, it's unique shape was inspired by a pair of unrealistic/unwearable stilettos that Christian Louboutin had made for a 2007 photo exhibit (pictured above).

The shape of the brush handle looks like it could pose as a slight challenge to apply the polish. I had the opportunity to paint my mother's nail's with this red-hot colour and it isn't actually too difficult; it was, though, a tad awkward to get used to. The colour is long-lasting, bright, and radiant.

You could purchase the nail polish at Canadian department store Holt Renfrew, or in the states at Neiman Marcus. But act fast, the polish is only limited edition.

Pre-Fall 101

There's only a little under a month left of summer, which could be positive for some, and a little bit of a bummer for others. As much as your sun-filled beach days are drawing to a close, it means pre-fall fashion is starting to be seen in stores - that is the good part! The weather may be getting cooler, but the fashion sure is getting hotter.

Below, I put a few looks together that I feel would be great for pre-fall fashion because they're trendy, fun, and effortless.

Look 1)

This outfit that I put together, with some additional makeup that I think would really make this look pop, really reflects my current style at the moment. It's a great look for a night out on the town with your girls, or a date night. The Alice + Olivia jacket, paired with the spiked Louboutin's adds edge to the outfit, while the ELF lipstick adds a sexy, gothic, vampy appeal. The Miss Manga mascara is fantastic as it creates long, thickly grouped lashes that open up the eyes, and to top off the look, a trendy hat and a gold bangle. Plus, the jumpsuit is easy, comfy and on-trend, with the lace neckline softening the look. The jumpsuit is a great piece to have in your wardrobe because it's perfect for transitioning from summer to fall, as it could be worn without a jacket, tank top and all, or with a jacket for those chillier days.

The pieces featured are:
- Forever 21 Crocheted Woven Jumpsuit
- Forever 21 Floppy Wide Brim Fedora
- Alice + Olivia Amaya Leather Slim Collarless Blazer
- Christian Louboutin Spike Peep Toe Heel
- Stairwell stretch cuff
- E.L.F mineral lipstick in "ripe rose" #6709
- L'Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga mascara

Look 2)

This look that I created takes on more of a laid back attitude, which is especially seen with the loose-fitting distressed boyfriend jeans, which are super hot this season. The plaid shirt salutes one of the best movies that came out this summer, The Lego Movie, with its title track by Tegan and Sara, "Everything Is Awesome." Paired with a plain tank (it avoids clashing with the plaid flannel). The look is easy to throw on, and takes on a bit of a sexier look, versus a lazy, sloppy one with the platform sandals. The slouchy Marc Jacobs purse ties the look all together while looking chic, but casual all at once. Plus, black is a good colour because it can be worn all year round, so the bag doesn't have to be stored away in your closet once winter shows up knocking on your front door.

The pieces featured are:
-  Rag & Bone boyfriend jean
-  Everything Is Awesome Shirt (from Etsy.com, user: bambiFalana)
- Victoria's Secret Sexy Cami
- Jeffrey Campbell Foxy Platform
- Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Natasha purse

Look 3)

This pre fall look takes the high-waisted pants trend over to the short side. Since it's still summer, get all those shorts out of your system, but pair it with a lightweight sweater for those chillier days. The Wildfox sweater is a great transition piece because it is so lightweight, but it can still be worn in the winter with some layers too. The thigh-high socks with the oxfords give the outfit a more polished look, and the shoes can be worn right through fall as well. But it's not all about fall just yet; the metallic backpack still captured the fun essence of summer. Finish the look off with a sleek cat eye and sexy red lipstick.

The pieces featured are:
- Wildfox Night Owl Lenon Sweater
- American Apparel High-Waisted Shorts
- basic thigh high socks
- American Apparel Hologram Silver Laser Backpack
- silver bangle from shop4silver.co.uk
- Topshop Kara Chain Loafers
- L'Oreal Paris Infallible Super Slim Liner in black
- MAC lipstick, Pedro Lourenco line in "ruby"

So basically these are three different looks you could rock for this time of year. Which one is your favourite? Comment below!

Body Sprays and Lotions - Oh My! (Featuring Forever 21 Peach Chiffon)

I love a soothing, nice-smelling lotion/body spray combo as much as the next person. It makes me feel refreshed, confident, and ready to take on my day.

The reason I like body sprays instead of perfumes once in a while is because they tend to come in scents that are sweeter and fruitier (which appeals to me, but not necessarily to every person; it's about personal preference). Although this isn't always the case, these scent options are widely available in body sprays, especially at stores such as Victoria's Secret PINK, Forever 21, Shoppers Drug Mart, or Bath and Body Works, for instance. They also wear off a little sooner than strong perfumes, which means you could change your fragrance for different times of the day (i.e one fragrance for work, then a different one for a night on the town after work).

Ah, but you didn't think I'd forget about the body lotion component to the combo did you * wink wink *? It's very important to take care of your skin: from applying sunscreen, to removing your make up before bed, to moisturizing your skin. I love matching the scent of a lotion to a body spray because the fragrances won't clash. That way, I can smell lovely for the day with the body spray AND  keep my skin soft and healthy.

I really recommend the "Love & Beauty" lotions and body mists at Forever 21 because not only are they budget friendly (each costs $5.80 CAD) but they come in scrumptious scents such as peach chiffon, apricot, and cherry blossom. I've personally tried the peach chiffon scent (pictured below).
Above: Love&Beauty Peach Chiffon body mist and lotion

I've heard some people speak skeptically before trying the lotion because it is so inexpensive, but it really does work well. I've been using it twice a day for a week straight and I've noticed a significant difference in my skin; it feels silkier and brighter already. The lotion contains vitamin E, aloe, and shea butter - super ingredients in hydrating skin.

As for the spray, it lasts longer than my Eau Du Toilette Chance by Chanel perfume and it's literally a tiny fraction of the price! It lasts for most of my 8-hour work day, and by the time I'm ready to go out at night after work, I am free to apply a new fragrance (perhaps one more fitting for the occasion). It smells quite strong, however, so if you don't like juicy, succulent peaches, you'd probably want to select a different scent.

All in all, I would recommend this product to all you shoppers out there! The price is right, and for what you're paying for, the quality surpassed my expectations in the best way possible.

What are some of your favourite body spray and lotion scents and brands?

Welcome To Glamourpuss Me

Above: That's my face

Hello Internet world - I'm Alexia Kapralos, a journalism student based in Toronto; nice to meet you!

Up until now, I've always had a passion for beauty and fashion, but never an outlet to inform people by sharing tips, tricks, and great finds. Thus, this blog, Glamourpuss Me, was born. I also have a radio program at my university called The Plug-In (www.spreaker.com/user/theplugin1) and am also a music blogger [the blog is called The Rock Spot (www.kapralosmedia.blogspot.ca)].

Anyway, I always said, if I wasn't in the journalism field, I'd do something related to fashion or hair styling because it's just something I naturally gravitate to, am passionate about, and feel I have an eye for. So long story short, this music journalist is branching out into the exciting world of fashion and beauty (woo-hoo!).

You can also find me on Polyvore at: http://alexiakeii.polyvore.com. It's a website dedicated to creating fashion, beauty, and interior design sets reflecting the user's own personal style and what's on trend.

So, I invite you all to stay tuned for what's to come next from Glamourpuss Me - I have some exciting posts to share.

     Cheers!
